Diane von Furstenberg’s collection was fittingly titled Beginning. Furstenberg explained to New York Magazine that her “show is about the dawn, it’s about hope, it’s about life. It started with Africa, but there’s very little Africa left — it’s just the inspiration. But the hope, the hope! I’m promoting hope.”
Starting out with a series of white looks including a dotted top, a pleated skirt, a cowl neck dress (worn with a fanny pack!), the collection progressed into monochrome separates worn together in various color combinations (think a mint green blazer, brown top, and pale purple pants, all worn with a turquoise clutch), making for perfectly styled color blocked looks in need of minimal accessorizing. The collection then progressed into a slew of printed looks ranging from the bright to the more subtle. While some of the head-to-toe prints, which ranged from graphic 60s options to florals and were fashioned into both day and night wear, may be hard to pull off as they were shown on the runway, it’s easy to imagine nearly every piece in the collection easily fitting into countless women’s wardrobes.
